Corrina Holyoake

Question 1: Give us a brief description of your business. How you help people? What makes you unique?

I am primarily a childrens book illustrator and artist and have started a company called Artypeace which aims to help unleash the therapeutic benefits of creativity. We have been running workshops for both children and adults in the Bognor area focusing on mindful art.

Alongside this I founded a non profit organization called Get Bognor social. Our aim with the group is to reduce social isolation and loneliness within our community by taking people out on events where they can connect with each other in a safe and secure setting. GBS runs hand in hand with Artypeace and we have held many art sessions through the group which have turned out to be perfect ice breakers for our members.

Question 2: Why do you love your business and what you do?

I get to do what I love every day which is lots of drawing and colouring in. I love sharing everything I have learnt over the years with others and watching their creative spark ignite.

Watching how peoples lives have changed since joining GBS still humbles me, constant friendships are being made. My biggest joy has, and always will be seeing people happy and I am lucky enough to have a job and hobby that does that.

Question 3: Tell us about a time when you said to yourself ‘this is why I do what I do’.
Gosh where do I start! One of the most memorable was when a 7yr old made her mum buy her an easel and paints straight after a session and they sent me a picture of her painting away…. So so cute!
Questions 4: How has MNC helped you on your business journey so far?
I have only just dipped my toes into the MNC pool and went to my first meeting this month. I look forward to making new connections, collaborations and to hang out with like minded people.
Question 5: If there was one piece of advice you would give to someone thinking of starting their own business what would it be?
Plan, save, have a huge amount of self belief and follow your heart. Don’t put it off, when it feels right just do it regardless of the opposition you get. Your inner voice really does know best.
Question 6: Anything else you want our readers to know about you and your business?
If anybody would like to help support Get Bognor Social and be a part of the organization then we always welcome new volunteers and are constantly looking at ways to streamline things.
